Aldar Properties, the construction company behind Yas Island's Ferrari World theme park, has confirmed that the external structure of the building has been completed ahead of its opening in 2010. The site will be the world's largest indoor amusement park, with the roof spanning the distance of 1 kilometre (0.62 miles).
With the spectacular building contributing to just a part of Yas Marina's brand-new Formula One complex, Mohammed Al Mubarak is pleased with the progress being made. "We are delighted to have reached this landmark in the development of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi," the Aldar CEO commented. "We are proud to be a part of bringing Ferrari to Abu Dhabi."
With the roof of the building inspired by Ferrari's GT model, the renowned prancing horse logo alone measures 66 metres in diameter. Twenty attractions will be included, including the world's fastest rollercoaster which will reach speeds of 200km/h (125mph).
"With the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix just days away, this milestone is a fantastic demonstration of the blossoming relationship between Abu Dhabi and Ferrari," added Piero Ferrari, Vice Chairman of Ferrari and son of late company founder Enzo. "Abu Dhabi's involvement with Ferrari is emblematic of our collective commitment to quality and tradition liked with innovation and vision."
