Kimi Räikkönen has told Finnish reporters that McLaren is his only option if he is to stay in Formula One next year. The 2007 World Champion, who moved to Italy's Ferrari from the British marque for 2007, would be racing alongside fellow Champion Lewis Hamilton should such a move be made.Räikkönen first drove for McLaren between 2002 and 2006 after making his F1 debut with Sauber in 2001. Having come closest to the title when narrowly missing out to Michael Schumacher in 2003, Kimi made the move to Ferrari before clinchinh the title in his maiden season with the Scuderia two years ago.

With Fernando Alonso moving in to partner Felipe Massa next season and Räikkönen's contract therefore cut short by a year, the Finn talked to national broadcaster MTV3, claiming that - although he would enjoy the occasional rally as a hobby during the season - former team McLaren is his only option. Toyota has also made an offer although Räikkönen has responded by saying that the Japanese team is not an option.
